He replied; "I never self inflicted pressure by doing wrong advice, because i did not know the correct way myself or did not know the correct way myself or did not know the correct answer. I always asked someone that did know". We should never be too big or too old to ask. In today 'gospel from St. Luke, Jesus says;'So I say to you ask and it will be given to you and How much more will the Heavenly Father give the Holy Spirit to those who ask him.'
Our Father in Heaven The disciples asked Jesus to teach them to pray, and we are given the 'Our Father' as the perfect prayer. Many people tell in confession that they cannot pray or find it difficult to pray so the feelings about prayer are the same today as they were in the time of Christ himself. The answer to todays quest for a method of prayer must be the same answer that Jesus gave. Firstly; we pray for Gods glory, that we recognise him and give him first place in our lives. Secondly, we ask for our daily needs and hopes, especially for forgiveness of the wrongs we have done. This forgiveness is tied to our willingness to forgive each other. So what we most need to pray for is a spirit of forgiveness and reconciliation towards each other. Great saints and contemplatives have gone through their lives striving to learn how to pray. In fact only one person in all the bible who thought he knew how to pray was the Pharisee in Christs great parable. So our prayer life is all about making effort, and basing that effort on the model given by Christ himself- the Our Father.
Friendship consists of forgetting what one gives and remembering what one receives
New Parish Centre The work of demolition of St. Marys Hall is now complete and foundation work will commence after the end of the builders holiday period. The main contractors for the construction are Townmore Construction Ltd., a tullamore based firm, who have a number of projects in hand throughout the town. The final contract price is €1,973882.75. The plan is to have a new centre completed by the end of april 2008. We will give an update on work as it progresses, not necessarily on a weekly basis, but as often as seems appropriate.
