WHAT WE ARE WORTH

Cheered then jeered, bless then spat upon, acclaimed King then put to a gruelling death - all in one week, and all accepted because of us and for us.  This shows the kind of love in which both Jesus and the Father hold us.  It is love at any cost - to them we are beyond price.

It is in the light of this that we look at our response.  We'll know the answer by how we treat our neighbour in our daily life.

We need to pray for grace to learn how to love unselfishly - the Holy Spirit will help us if we ask sincerely.

The priests of the Parish who were in attendance as chaplains for the emergency following the tragic school bus accident at Clara wish to record their admiration for the handling of the situation by the hospital staff and all the other services called into action.  The overriding impression was one of great care, professionalism and generosity towards children, parents and all who were touched by the tragedy.  The tragedy of the event overshadows everything we might wish to say, and the death of Michael White has touched everybody.  The whole parish will wish to join in extending sympathy to his family in their grief.  Nevertheless, we think it is important to affirm the efforts of these services which are so often the subject of unfavourable criticism.
