There is actually one thing worse than evil itself, and that is indifference to evil. - Joseph Fletcher
1.8 MILLION I am sure that the figure 1.8 million would ring a bell with us as the prize in our national lottery or other lotteries. If not won, millions are added over time and we spend more millions trying to win the larger prize. Our chances of winning the Euro lotto are 76 million to one! In today's readings we hear of God's love for us, of Abraham's great love for God and how we should love Him back. To gain God's love, the odds are shorter than the lotto. All we have to do is respect and love one another. By the way, the 1.8 MILLION is the number of children who die each year from dirty water and poor sanitation transmitted diseases. Millions more seriously damage their health. We should now ask ourselves the question - how strong is our love of God if we allow such injustice to children to continue? Remember, if we were to donate half of what we can afford to spend on the lotto, we could provide clean water for millions, which is a very small expectation for them and only reduces our lottery chances by a percentage so small it would make no difference. Personally the feel good factor for each of us would bring us so close to God that we would feel million times better off!
