IT’S OK TO CARE

The Gospel for today is one I have heard many times before, so I could be tempted in thinking, ‘I’m not rich, this doesn’t apply to me’.  That would be my first mistake.

Money, with the comforts it brings, can blind me from an awareness of my need for God and of my duty to bring God’s mercy and compassion to others less fortunate than myself.

Even if I am not materially wealthy, I have something I can share with someone in need.  I may not find someone sitting at my door begging, but my neighbour might be in need of a word of recognition or appreciation; companionship or friendship; love or forgiveness.

Just as You, God, slip into my life when I least expect it, so let me slip into the lives of the needy in silent compassion, to listen and pray that I might make just a little difference.

‘The Lord is gracious and compassionate ..... rich in love and good to all’.
                                         (Psalm 145:8-9)

Truth is always strong, no matter how weak it looks,
and falsehood is always weak no matter how strong it looks.
Marcus Antioninus

ANNUAL PARISH TRIDUUM
Our annual Triduum in honour of St Therese, commences this weekend and we welcome Fr Donal O’Leary who is with us at all the Masses.  The Triduum continues on Monday and Tuesday with three sessions - 10.00am & 7.00pm Mass and a  9.00pm liturgy.   Everyone is very welcome to the Triduum - there’s an open door and a place for all.

SINGERS NEEDED
“To sing well is to pray twice!”
Singing is a vital part of the prayer of the Church, and the parish has many varied ways of doing this.  We are currently looking for people to come and sing at the 11.30 Sunday Mass choir.  This choir will sing a range of music from very ancient Gregorian chant and choral music to the most modern sounds of Liam Lawton and the likes.  The choir needs both male and female voices to sing soprano, alto, tenor and bass.  To join the choir you do not need to read music (a great help if you do!), but over time this is one skill you will pick up.

There is a weekly practice at 8pm on Wednesday  in the Parochial House.  The Conductor of the choir is Andrius Kozlovskis and organist is Mr Michael Moore.  The choir sings at the 11.30am Mass each Sunday and at events such as Midnight Christmas mass in the parish church and the Easter Vigil.
Participating in a choir is one way of contributing to the life of the Church in the town and a fantastic way to giving a little something back to God.

TEEN CHOIR (1.00PM MASS)
