MASS FOR THE BEREAVED
The 10.00am Mass on Saturday 6th. will be for all families in our Parish who have lost a loved one during the year.
It is the teaching of the Church and the practise of our ancestors to remember the dead during this month.Birth, growth and death are of the natural order. Each of us will die some day as it is part of God’s plan for us. Let us follow God’s command and pray for the souls of the dead who have gone before us – our relatives, neighbours, ancestors and all the holy souls.May God increase their glory, ease the pain and grantthem remission of their sins. We can also visit a church or cemetery during the month.
It is comforting to remember that our relatives are not gone from us but before us and one day we will be with them in Paradise.

LIST OF THE DEAD
November is the month when we pray especially for the dead. November 1st. is the feast of All Saints and November 2nd. is the commemoration of the Faithful Departed (All Souls).
An important tradition in Ireland is writing down the names of our departed friends and relations on the Altar List of the Dead. The list is compiled every November and Mass is offered for those on it at all List of the Dead Masses in November and every first Friday for the coming twelve months.Take time with your family to write the list. Think of family, friends and neighbours over the years. Particularly remember those who have no one to pray for them. Dead lists are available in the Church. Please fill one out, if you would like to do so and drop into the sacristy or the Parish Centre over the coming weeks.

SEEING YOUR LIFE THROUGH THE LENS OF THE GOSPEL
(Mark 12:28-34)
Today’s Gospel brings us right to the heart of what a Christian life involves: love of God and of neighbour. Jesus tells us that having life both now and in the future is the fruit of living in a spirit of love. How have you experienced the power of love given, and received, as a source of life and vitality?
If you were asked what was most important in life, what would your answer be? Recall the experiences and relationships you have had. Which are the ones that you treasure most? What has particularly enriched your life? How would you encourage another person who asked you how s/he could live a full life?
Jesus praises the questioner as one who had answered wisely. Recall some of the wise people you have known, people whoin their words and actions impressed you with their capacity to see and treasure what is important in life.

Given the COVID-19 precautionary measures, our churches are inaccessible for the faithful. Participation in the daily sacraments is beyond reach for them. Shalom World TV, a Catholic media ministry of the Shalom Ministries, is an official partner with the Vatican and is authorized to telecast papal liturgies directly via its free high-definition television channel. Shalom World is committed to producing free yet high-quality Catholic content such as Daily Mass, devotionals, shows, music, youth programs, children’s programs, conventions, retreats, and cultural exchange segments. The programming is absolutely free and can be watched live or on-demand. The most recent addition, in response to COVID-19, is a 4th channel to the existing 3 channels, for exclusive live telecast of daily Holy Mass around the clock, with special prayers for an end to coronavirus .
We are broadcasting Daily Mass Live from Saints Peter and Paul's Church, Portlaoise, Co. Laois at 10:00 am everyday during this challenging time.
Bishop Denis Nulty, Diocese of Kildare and Leighlin is our patron in Ireland and Shalom World is endorsed by Catholic leaders from around the globe .
