PARISH CAR PARK
The increased use of our car park at St Brigid's Place/Store St, reflects the new demand created by the introduction of parking charges in the town.
Parishioners who use the Car Park when they attend Mass or any other celebration in the Church, are welcome to use it free of charge.  The exit barrier remains open each morning from 10.00-11.00am to cater for those attending 10.00am Mass.
On the occasions of weddings and funerals, the barrier will be open for one hour after the estimated conclusion of the ceremony.
We wish all our parishioners to understand that there is no intention to charge them for the use of the Car Park on any occasion that they attend a celebration in our Parish Church.  Meanwhile, patrons of the Car Park seem happy to have it available at a charge of €2 per day.

Also we would like to remind people that while the Church grounds are open to those attending Masses in the mornings, the barrier closes automatically at 11.30am unless there is a funeral or wedding.  Therefore we would ask you to please ensure that your car is out the grounds by 11.30am.  Thank you.

Middle East Conflict

"....We in Trócaire will continue to meet the short term needs of our partners in the Middle East, while at the same time advocating for human rights to be respected and international law to be upheld in the long term. For more information about our current campaign to help end the crisis please visit our website: www.trocaire.org
We ask that you keep the people of the region in your thoughts and prayers over the coming days and weeks. Pope Benedict in his recent appeal for peace in the Middle East states, "…neither terrorist acts nor reprisals, especially when they entail tragic consequences for the civilian population, can be justified."
(Extract from letter sent by Justin Kilcullen, Director Trocaire)

Bishop Smith has suggested that all parishes should afford people an opportunity to support families who are suffering in the present conflict.  Please place your contribution in an envelope clearly marked LEBANON, and hand it in at Mass next Sunday.  All contributions will be forwarded to Bishop Smith promptly for distribution to those most at risk.

 A MIRACLE

Imagine five barley loaves and two fish to feed five thousand people!  It is beyond our human understanding.

Once again, Jesus just wanted to give us a sign, to show us that He is the source of everything we need.  He is asking us to trust him completely.  That small boy couldn't have foreseen the good his little contribution of food would become when he gave it to Jesus.

But on that hillside, on the day before the Passover, Jesus gave us a foretaste of the Eucharist....
"He took the loaves, gave thanks, and gave them out to all.  He did the same with the fish giving out as much as was wanted." (Jn 6:11-12)

Collections:

 Tullamore: €4140; Durrow €190.  Envelopes: €1758.

Thank you.

Please continue to pray for Fiona Pender ,
our parishioner who has been missing
since 22nd August 1996
