TROCAIRE

Thank you for your generous Lenten donations. Trócaire boxes and envelopes can still be returned to the parish and your support this year will change the lives of some of the world's poorest people. All of our efforts are appreciated and all of them, no matter how large or small, make a great difference.
This piece from Trócaire is one example of how our support can continue to change lives in some of the poorest countries of the world.

There are high levels of hunger in Zomba, Malawi and a widespread food crisis.
This is due to crop failure and continuing unpredictable rainfall. The main crop planted
in Zomba is maize and when this fails many people have nothing else to fall back on.
This project provides people with enough food and also enough seeds to plant.
Many of the farmers are women. By working with farmers to help them improve their
land, their practises and how they manage water, the project seeks to provide more
food for families. It also provides better seeds and some livestock.
The cost of this work for poor farmers is € 7,314
