SEEING YOUR LIFE THROUGH THE LENS OF THE GOSPELS  Mark 1:1-8

… John the Baptist is presented as a messenger to prepare the way for Jesus.  Who have been messengers to you, preparing the way for the Lord by alerting you to ways in which you could improve your life?  To whom have you been such a messenger?

John calls the people to repentance (i.e a change of heart), as a way to a new life.  Can you recall times when you had a change of heart, and the change revitalised you? …

John Byrne osa, Intercom Dec 2023

ADVENT INVITATION WALK WITH US ON THE PATH OF HOPE - ADENT 2023

We invite you to walk the path of Advent with us by listening to short audio reflections for each day of Advent on our parish website: https://www.tullamoreparish.ie/.

The Lord allows himself to be found by the one who seeks him!

EVENING PRAYER FOR ADVENT continues Sunday evening 10th, at 5.30pm.

THE VOICE OF JOHN

John’s is a strident voice, contrasting at times with what appears to be the gentle Jesus of Christmas.  John presents a tough message, and demands conversion and change.  Yet he too was the one who would preach the forgiveness of sins and would ‘guide the people in the way of peace’.

The message of Jesus is comfort and challenge; both are part of our waiting in Advent.  The birth of the Christ-child each year comforts us, and presents the warmth and ease of the love of God.  We know also that the life of this child will challenge us to take up our cross, and to believe that in every death there is resurrection and in every tough experience of life can be found the blessing of God.

Guide us Lord in the way of peace,

Guide us in the ways of forgiveness and tolerance,

For then you guide us in the way of God.

“COME AND SEE”

You are invited to a celebration of light, in answer to Jesus invitation to "COME AND SEE" on Sunday 17th December from 2.30pm, concluding with Evening Prayer at 5.30pm.

Jesus, in the Blessed Sacrament, will be exposed on the altar, the church will be lit by candles, music will be played and the Sacrament of Confession will be available.  Come and join us for a time for quiet prayer in preparation for the celebration of the birth of Jesus who is the SOURCE of ALL LIGHT.
