PALM SUNDAY: PASSION SUNDAY

This very day commemorates the triumphal entry of Jesus into Jerusalem when the crowd cries ‘Hosanna’ for him.  Within the week, the same crowd roars for his death on the cross.  People are fickle.

Holy Week is one long account of betrayal, denial, fear and abandonment.  All of this brings home to us what sin is.  When we sin, we turn away from Jesus.  We turn away from Him on his journey to Calvary.

Yet, the week does not end with the passion and death of Jesus.  No, it culminates with the glorious Resurrection of Jesus, the triumph of forgiveness and mercy over sin and death.  There is the promise of a bright future for all of us who follow Jesus and He left us the gift of Himself under the form of bread and wine to help us on our journey to everlasting life with Him.

FOR CHILDREN BAPTISED IN 2022: Parents and children are invited to Celebration of the Eucharist on Easter Sunday at 10.00am Mass, to celebrate and remember children’s baptism and entry into the Christian Community during 2022.
