CONFESSIONS

THE SOLEMNITY OF THE MOST HOLY TRINITY

Sunday’s Mass is the Solemnity of the Most Holy Trinity.  It is a celebration or festival in honour of the Trinity, three persons in one God.  The themes of the readings are wisdom, truth and love.  These three come from the Father, Son and Holy Spirit.

When we profess our faith in the Creed, we express our belief in the Most Holy Trinity.  We might not understand the Trinity, but we have been given the gift of faith at our Baptism, strengthened by other Sacraments, and this allows us to accept and treasure something we do not fully understand.  Faith and belief in the Most Holy Trinity is a God-given gift to us.  We express our belief in the prayer that is the Creed.

Two other prayers that express the same belief are the Sign of the Cross – “in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Spirit”, and the “Glory be to the Father, and to the Son and to the Holy Spirit”.  Say these prayers often and with respect to celebrate the fact of the Most Holy Trinity in our lives.

FIRST COMMUNION
Congratulations to the children from Durrow NS who received the Eucharist for the first time last Thursday.
We wish God’s blessing on them, their families and teachers and all who helped them on their faith journey at this special time.

CORPUS CHRISTI PROCESSION

Our Corpus Christi Procession will make a welcome return on Saturday next, 18th, after 6.30pm Mass (weather permitting).  The procession will take the route leaving Church grounds from Store St, St Brigid’s Place, Convent Rd, Colmcille St, Harbour St and will end with Benediction in the grounds of the Church of the Assumption.  All parishioners are encouraged to take part in this joyful public celebration of the Eucharist.

HOLY HOUR FOR VOCATIONS

Holy Hour for Vocations on Friday 17th at 7.00pm in Tullamore Church, with Adoration of the Blessed Sacrament and Benediction.  We will reflect on the example of the Priesthood after the Heart of Christ, in this month of the Sacred Heart of Jesus.  Speaker will be Mark Caffrey, a student for the Priesthood for our Diocese.

SEEING YOUR LIFE THROUGH THE LENS OF THE GOSPEL  John 16:12-15

Wisdom about life comes slowly and sometimes painfully. Hearing the ‘right’ answer at the ‘wrong’ time does not help us. We need to be ready and open to receiving the truth if it is to have any impact. Perhaps you can recall some occasions when it was the ‘right’ time for you to learn a truth about life. Remember your experiences of growing in understanding and truth.

Perhaps the Spirit guided you through the words of someone close to you, or through the words and actions of people you read about or saw on TV. Or maybe understanding came to you when praying or reflecting on your life. Remember and give thanks for the people who have helped you to greater wisdom on your journey through life.

Wisdom is handed on from person to person, and from generation to generation, within families, within communities, etc. Are there any wisdom sayings that you cherish from what has been handed on to you?
