 THE IMPORTANCE OF CONSISTENCY

God sees each of us for what we are and He will never criticise or condemn us for our many shortcomings and failings. Do we in turn adopt this approach with those around us or do we challenge our habit of occasionally making inaccurate or false judgements about those in our community? In the gospel, Jesus in a subtle and humorous manner, invites us not to take ourselves too seriously.

He uses the example of our failure to see the “log” in our own eye yet having the vision to clearly see the “speck” in the eye of those around us.

The moral of the story is, that as true followers and disciples of Jesus, we must realise the importance of consistency in everything we do and say- as nothing influences others as much as consistency or the lack of it. This is a lesson to be treasured and not forgotten.

We cannot evade the message of Jesus today. Our conduct is the real test of our character and the spoken word always reflects our hearts.

CONFIRMATION

Congratulations to our young people who received the Sacrament of Confirmation this weekend. We acknowledge the great work of so many people in preparing them for this sacrament and in their faith development.

We appreciate the commitment of our teachers and schools for their support and professionalism and we acknowledge the central work of parents and guardians in handing on the faith to their children.

We remember to pray for our young people and it is the responsibility and the privilege of the entire Christian community to share the gift of faith with the next generation.
