WHO IS JESUS CHRIST FOR YOU?

In the lifetime of Jesus people had different ideas of who Jesus was. Some were surprised at him, one of themselves and the son of a carpenter, speaking with such authority. Others saw him as a trouble-maker, a rebel. More saw him as some kind of devil who could work magic, while still more saw him as a prophet. So, Jesus put two questions to his disciples: “Who do people say I am?” and the more important question: “Who do you say I am?”  Peter answered for all: “You are the Christ”. Clearly, his disciples saw him as the long-promised liberator, the political saviour and king who would lead them to freedom from their oppressors.

Jesus quickly disillusioned them from that view. He spelt out that his future was not on an earthly throne, but on a wooden cross. His future would be one of jeering crowds, physical and mental suffering and death, nailed to a cross like a criminal. A true follower of Jesus will have to take up his own cross, renounce himself and make the personal sacrifice of following in the footsteps of Jesus. Can you walk the walk with Jesus? Can you do this? Who is Jesus Christ for You?

SAFEGUARDING CHILDREN

Parents,

Once again it’s that time of year when your children return to the various Parish activities. Everyone appreciates the volunteers and children for their involvement and hard work which enhances our liturgies.

Tullamore Parish is committed to doing everything we can to create a safe and welcoming environment for your children and young adults taking part in church related activities. As the welfare of the children is paramount, it is our Parish Policy to ensure that young people will be supported in all activities.

We ask parents/guardians to complete consent forms being circulated now and return them to the activity leaders or the Parish Centre. Thank you for your constant help and support.

PROGRAMME FOR MARRIED OR PARTNERSHIP COUPLES

This being a special year, “THE YEAR OF THE FAMILY”, a renewal programme for couples is being seen as a vital part of family life. The strength and stability of a family begins with the strength and stability of the parents or of the couple. To help couples build and strengthen their relationship, a programme called Marriage Enrichment or Marriage Encounter is taking place at different venues around the Country. This is a weekend program beginning Friday evening and ending Sunday afternoon.

The next scheduled weekend will be held at Dromantine Conference Centre, Newry, beginning Friday Evening, October 5th to Sunday afternoon October 7th, 2018.

If you are interested, an Application Form is available in the Parish Centre. Leave your name and contact number into the Parish Centre and Fr. Kevin will call you.

Don’t be afraid to give this weekend a try, you won’t regret it.
