START SPREADING THE GOOD NEWS

The person at the centre of the story in the Gospel could be any of us. St. Mark invites us today to seriously reflect on what our baptism really means as we live out our daily lives. Have we begun to take our faith commitment for granted? Have we become poor listeners to the message of Jesus and consequently, have we been struggling to communicate His message with the same enthusiasm as the ‘crowd’ in the Gospel.

The more Jesus tried to calm their ardour the more excited they became in proclaiming His message. Does the message of Jesus touch us in the same way? Is our ‘admiration…unbounded’? Do our lives communicate the joyful message of Jesus?

SAFEGUARDING CHILDREN

Parents,

Once again it’s that time of year when your children return to the various Parish activities. Everyone appreciates the volunteers and children for their involvement and hard work which enhances our liturgies.

Tullamore Parish is committed to doing everything we can to create a safe and welcoming environment for your children and young adults taking part in church related activities. As the welfare of the children is paramount, it is our Parish Policy to ensure that young people will be supported in all activities.

We ask parents/guardians to complete consent forms being circulated now and return them to the activity leaders or the Parish Centre. Thank you for your constant help and support.

MEATH PILGRIMAGE TO LOURDES SEPTEMBER 12TH -17TH

This is a special year for the Meath Diocesan Pilgrimage to Lourdes.

The first pilgrimage travelled in 1948 and this year we are celebrating 70 years. During those years many sick people have been able to go to Lourdes with the assistance of volunteers who attend to the needs of pilgrims. It is a bringing together of people from all over the Diocese and it is an experience of grace and joy and healing for so many people.

This year also marks a special celebration in Lourdes itself; it is 160 years ago since our Lady appeared to St. Bernadette. The grotto in Lourdes, the water, the baths, the processions, the Eucharist, the candles, the music, the gathering of people from all over the world are all part of a special place where pilgrims experience the healing presence of God and hearts are uplifted.

This Wednesday, Sept 12th, the pilgrimage will once again travel to Lourdes with Bishop Deenihan and Bishop Smith, our sick, our volunteer staff and pilgrims. The pilgrimage is possible because of the generosity of so many people, it is a time of blessing and grace for our entire Diocese. Please keep the pilgrims in your prayers as they carry with them the intentions of so many people and lay them into the hands of our Lord through the intercession of Mary.

Our Lady of Lourdes, pray for us.
