TRUE AND FULL LIFE

The answer Jesus gives Philip and Andrew when they tell Him some Greeks would like to see Him must have surprised them. He doesn't encourage them with niceties about what following Him would entail -like 'top jobs' in the New Kingdom free from Rome... The Apostles illusions were probably still fairly intact, but Jesus'  reply left little room for manoeuvre. Any success on the path Jesus is on entails loss and death!  “… a grain of wheat must die to bear fruit" and "one must loose one’s life to find it.."

How could they, or we, even want, never mind persevere, on a path so contrary to the inherent selfishness in our human nature. The key is in the first reading. God promises He will make a new Relationship/Covenant with His people: "I will implant my Law deep within their being, I will write it in their hearts." In this New Relationship with Him what He implants in our hearts is His own Holy Spirit - the total gift of His life, even to death - death on the Cross. It is this Gift that enables us to walk in His path and that opens Heaven to us - access to the true and full life of joy in our Father's House.

HOLY WEEK 2015 - DAY FOR HEALING

Two of the Sacraments celebrate healing: Holy Anointing and Confession. One is for the body the other for the soul. On Tuesday of Holy Week, both sacraments will be celebrated: the Sacrament of the Sick will be offered during a Mass for healing at 2.00pm. This Sacrament can be received once a month for anyone who is suffering illness of body or mind and for the advanced in years.

The Sacrament of Confession is for everyone: because everyone is in need of the spiritual healing given by this sacrament. There will be a penitential ceremony after 7.30am, 10.00am and 7.30pm Mass.

A priest will be in the Church ALL DAY from 7.30am to 7.30pm for Confession.

Sin is a burden: guilt, painful memories, regrets can dig into our peace. In Confession our sins are washed away by the grace of God. We name our sin and our offence is taken away. Over the next few days and weeks honestly examine your life to see where you may need the healing power of Confession. This is God's free gift. Only Christ can say "your sins are forgiven, go in peace."

What a wonderful gift....
