 A CHANGE OF HEART

alt

Most of us may remember learning off the Ten Commandments when we were in school. How many of us remember them now let alone live them? God gave us the Ten Commandments (Exodus 20:1-17) not to bind us, but to free us for a relationship of love with Him; to live them in spirit and to bring about a change of heart.

Maybe our dependence on materials things and our reliance on our own way of doing things has been more central to our lives than our reliance on God. Now in the early days of Lent is a good time to take stock of our faith journey and to dig deep below the surface of our lives, into our hearts, where we can meet with God and renew our lives. We cannot do it on our own, but with the Lords help we can bring about a renewal and change of heart.

“Jesus ……knew all people”.  (John 2:24).

Let us revisit the Ten Commandments today in the depths of our being – let us take them seriously again.
